Derrick Boakye Boadu is an emerging scholar with more than nine years of international experience. Derrick is a fellow of the prestigious Edward A. Bouchet National Graduate Honor Society at Yale University, an honor recognizing excellence in doctoral education and scholarly achievement. His expertise lies in housing displacement and leadership practices within public and nonprofit management, collaborative governance, emergency management, and urban policy. Derrick completed his Ph.D. in Public Affairs at the Green's School of International & Public Affairs, Florida International University (FIU). His current research examines the management and collaboration of public and non-profit organizations, with a particular focus on housing displacement, distributed (shared) leadership, community engagement, and gentrification. His research has been published in prominent journals, including the Public Performance & Management Review. Derrick is currently on the job market.
Derrick has worked at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and has earned numerous accolades, including the Anthony R. Abraham Scholar designation and fellowships with the Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership, the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) Founder's Fellowship, and the Association for Public Policy Analysis & Management's (APPAM) Equity & Inclusion Fellowship. He is also a Writing Fellow at the FIU University Graduate School and the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum (AWAC).
Derrick holds triple master's degrees from Europe and a recipient of prestigious awards, including the FIU Outstanding Graduate Student Scholar Finalist and Leadership Award, the People's Choice Award at the FIU 3MT Thesis Competition, and the Distinguished Professor Meier Inclusion Award at the Public Management Research Association (PMRA) conferences. Derrick is committed to advancing housing equity, collaborative leadership, climate actions, and policy innovation. He speaks five languages, including English, Italian, and Twi.
